The provided information originates in part from an informant whom we believe to be the very individual Boris Johnson sought out in his pursuit of obtaining private details concerning our investigative target, Stuart Collier. This informant has furnished us with numerous corroborating documents pertaining to Stuart Collier, including the embedded header from a telephone record within this release. Additionally, the informant has verified the sequence of events outlined below. While the informant only speculated that Boris Johnson was the recipient of the private information regarding Stuart Collier, we have conducted extensive corroboration and deem this report to be an accurate reflection of what Boris Johnson obtained from our informant and subsequently conveyed in part to Darius Guppy. Despite our persistent attempts to elicit a response from Boris Johnson, we have, as of yet, received no reply. However, we remain confident in the integrity of Boris Johnson’s commitment to confidentiality with our shared contact and with Darius Guppy.
Boris Johnson and the Guppygate Scandal: A Closer Look
In the now-infamous surreptitiously recorded Guppygate tape, Boris Johnson, then a budding writer at The Daily Telegraph and future Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is heard answering an incoming call from his Etonian friend, Darius Guppy. Guppy, in a state of rage, bluntly demands of Johnson, “Have you got his [Stuart Collier’s] number?”. Guppy was following up on a favour he had asked of Johnson in a previous call: to obtain the address and telephone number of the Murdoch gutter journalist Stuart Collier. The aim was to at the very least scare the tabloid journo, but at best dish out a full-on retribution beating that would culminate in cracked ribs. This surreptitiously recorded private telephone recording was leaked by Peter Risdon to Marcus Scriven, who first broke the story in the Evening Standard, followed by a notorious exposé in the Mail on Sunday.
Johnson has since faced a barrage of criticism from the journalistic community and a scandal-hungry public. The spectacle of a high-profile Tory entertaining the mere idea of facilitating violence against a journalist, be it a tabloid Murdoch hack, has fuelled intense scrutiny for decades. Our investigation revisits these events and shines a new light on the actions of those involved with new information.
Boris Johnson Did Seek Stuart Collier’s Private Information
Contrary to public perception, Boris Johnson did obtain the sought-after information on Stuart Collier from a single contact, not four, as previously reported. His contact provided not only a private telephone number but also an accompanying private address. However, by the time of Johnson’s call with Darius Guppy, Stuart Collier had already vacated that address.
It can also be said that Clive Goodman, the news hack and close associate of Stuart Collier, confirmed through Peter Risdon that no attempt for Stuart Collier’s address was made at Murdoch’s News International.
Our investigation reveals that even before Darius Guppy entered the fray, Stuart Collier was a hotly pursued man, adeptly evading multiple pursuers across London and even as far as to Scotland. From the mid-1980s through to and beyond the Guppygate incident, Stuart Collier was deeply embedded in Murdoch’s media empire and its brand of gutter journalism at the News of the World after being recruited by Robert (Bob) Warren. This was an arena where Johnson lacked the necessary connections. By 1990, at the time of the Guppygate call, Stuart Collier had mastered his art of evasion, often staying at what he called digs with friends in the tabloid world, spending nights in prostitute dens, or more of often than not sleeping curbside in a car.
One address unbeknownst to Johnson, his contact, and Guppy himself was that Stuart Collier would most likely be found at our investigation’s revealed address on the very night of the call between Johnson and Guppy. You can read our full investigative reveal on Stuart Collier’s real Guppygate era hideout in our Exposure No. 01 release.

But back to the information sought by Darius Guppy through Boris Johnson...
The Private Information Boris Johnson Obtained
Johnson’s connections and Stuart Collier’s familiarity within certain reporter circles, particularly from his time at The Daily Mail, are noteworthy. We can confirm that Johnson did receive information from a single contact, referred to by Johnson as ‘a guy going through his file at home’. This contact, a close acquaintance of Stuart Collier during his tenure as a staff reporter at The Daily Mail, also happens to be well acquainted with Johnson. Furthermore, this contact has become an informant for our investigation, providing valuable insights. These include Stuart Collier’s telephone records, entrusted to him by Stuart Collier himself in the late 1980s, shortly before vacating the documented address.
“There is a guy at this moment” .. “going through his file at home”
Boris Johnson on his contact
We can reveal the very information Johnson obtained from his/our contact in relation to Stuart Collier, including the telephone number supplied to Guppy. The private address being: 43 Gracefield Gardens, Streatham, London, SW16 2SU, and the number for this address being: 01-769 1913 (today the telephone number would read 020 8769 1913).

What Private Information Did Boris Johnson Provide Darius Guppy
In summary, Johnson alluded to attempting to obtain Stuart Collier’s details from four contacts, as reported in the closing paragraph of that famous 1995 Mail on Sunday exposé by Marcus Scriven. Johnson received both a private address and a private telephone number for Stuart Collier but was informed by his contact at the same time that these were likely outdated. Despite this, Johnson passed only the telephone number to Guppy, possibly in a well-intentioned attempt to placate his friend, as confirmed in the Guppygate call with Johnson’s remark, “Again, I even got this bloody number for you.” However, Johnson withheld the address, potentially saving Stuart Collier from a professional follow-up beating or merely not wanting to send Guppy to a vacant address.

Thus, we can confirm that while Johnson did seek and obtain the private address and telephone number for Stuart Collier, contrary to his official response, he did pass on some information to Guppy. However, the telephone number provided was ultimately worthless, as it would not have reached the target. We can conclude that Boris Johnson was true to his statement, as he successfully protected Stuart Collier from receiving a beating while humouring his friend Darius Guppy.
